Now that I have made the concept of Stamina in Deadlock clear, and taught you how to manage it better, the next aspect of movement you should hard code in your brain is Dash Jumping.

How Dash Jumping Works

A lot of players assume that if they combo dashing and jumping randomly, it is a Dash Jump. That is not the case in Deadlock. If you want to do a perfect Dash Jump, then you need to get the timing right. If you do a dash and then jump at the correct moment, you will get a huge momentum boost. This technique helps you travel the most distance horizontally for a single stamina bar.

After you perform a dash, you will notice that your stamina bar will flash for a brief moment. Press jump immediately when you see the flash, and you will successfully perform a Dash Jump. So, I have this trick that I have used to master my dash jumping. There is an item called Arcane Surge in the game that procs when you do a Dash Jump. When you are in your hideout, equip Arcane Surge, and try activating it as frequently as you can till the point you don’t have to look at your stamina bar flashing.

Air Dash Mechanic

The next mechanic you need to master is your Air Dash. If you follow up your Dash Jump immediately with an Air Dash, which is just doing a Dash when you are airborne, you will be able to clear great distances between rooftops. When I play heroes like Vindicta or Gray Talon, I often combo my Air Dashes with Fast Falls, which is just pressing the Crouch button twice while airborne. This allows me to immediately dive onto my targets that are low on HP and also helps me escape incoming damage when I am low.

Wall Jumping

The final piece of this Deadlock’s movement puzzle is the ability to Wall Jump. Once you master Wall Jumping, you will “almost” transcend into a movement god. The reason a Wall Jump is so powerful and hard to do is because it doesn’t require any stamina to perform. To do a Wall Jump, you need to jump at a wall, and before your character starts doing the mantle animation you need to jump again. By doing so you can gain decent vertical movement without spending any Stamina.

The reason why new players find Wall Jumps so hard is because they get stuck in the Mantle animation, which is when you start climbing a ledge slowly. But, there is actually an easy way to avoid this mistake. All you have to do is let go of your ‘W’ key just as you are about to hit the ledge. I recommend starting the sandbox and practicing this technique until you master it. You will be surprised to see how drastically your fight scenarios change after you start including Wall Jumps regularly.
